Barolo Tasting with Mauro Molino Winery to Benefit the Blackstone School

Join Fabio Valpreda from Mauro Molino Winery in Piemonte, Italy for an in-depth educational wine tasting of seven wines including their Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and three Barolos. In addition to these beautiful wines, an array of Italian cheeses and charcuterie will be provided by Formaggio Kitchen South End, and long-time Formaggio Manager Julie will be on hand to walk us through each cheese type and its relation to the wines.

Mauro Molino Winery is a family and boutique estate, established by Mauro in 1982, now run by Matteo and Martina, the second generation of the Molino family. The winery is located in La Morra, in the heart of the Barolo area. Their wines fully represent the terroir of La Morra and show its unmistakable aroma and elegance. They are focused on the Nebbiolo grape, for Langhe DOC Nebbiolo and Barolo DOCG productions, but we also strongly believe in the potential of other varieties like Barbera. Sustainable and organic practices in the vineyards represent a fundamental part of the Molino family's philosophy.

A portion of proceeds from this event will directly benefit the Blackstone Elementary School at 380 Shawmut Avenue in Boston's South End. The Blackstone Elementary School is a Boston Public School in the South End neighborhood serving nearly 600 diverse students from Pre-Kindergarten to 6th grade. Children attend the school from neighborhoods throughout Boston, including the South End, East Boston, Roxbury and Dorchester neighborhoods. Two out of three students speak a language other than English as their first language, and 3 out of 4 children qualify for the free lunch program.

The support of the Friends of Blackstone School and the leadership of principal Shammah Daniels are critical components in continuing the growth these great students and teachers have achieved in recent years.
