Barn Concert: Caroline Marie Brooks and Colour Film

Perhaps best known as 1/3rd of Juno-award and CFMA winning folk-pop trio Good Lovelies, Caroline has been writing songs and melodies for as long as she can remember. Learning to sing harmony with her mother and sister, and strumming chords on her father’s beautiful old Martin, she naturally turned to songwriting to express the everyday. That’s where her songwriting lives; open to each passing moment, and wide-eyed in wonder at this miracle that is life, even in the mundane.
After many years of recording and touring with Good Lovelies, Caroline released her first solo album Everything at the Same Time in 2021, inspired by the inevitability of time passing from the vantage of motherhood and middle age and the desire to stay present through all of it. Outside of making and performing music, Caroline is deeply involved in climate action, connecting folks with nature, and is currently the Artistic Director of the Restoration Music & Nature Festival in the Almaguin Highlands.

Music for your mind's eye. With songs that play like home movies, Colour Film is Matthew de Zoete with a few friends filling out a cinematic roots palette. Mixing a storyteller's eye for detail with a knack for melody and beguiling harmonies, 2024's LP Half An Hour presents snapshots of everyday life that illuminate the underlying currents. For this show, Colour Film is a trio with Kori Pop on keys and vocals and Andrew Barbisan on lap steel, percussion, and vocals.

The concert venue is a born-again barn on a farm 10 minutes west of Dundas, ON. The room is large, climate controlled, and well-ventilated. It's a working but tidy farm, so choose footwear suitable for a walk in a park. Not your dancing shoes, not your galoshes.

Saturday April 25. Doors open at 7:30pm, show at 8. Ticket sales capped at 60, general admission seating. BYOB.
