Barefoot & Sunshine is an Americana/Roots band dead set on making and sharing their music full-time.
Dean Mattoon and Esme Alexis blend style and voice, with melodic electric guitar and vocal harmonies. They write about such things as death, goodbyes, the way they wish things were, and a few good times along the way, of course. But no matter the sentiment, you'd be hard-pressed to find them playing a song that didn't have great meaning to them.
Life is to be lived and felt, and that's what music is all about, really- pulling out feelings from the depths, from joy to sorrow and everything in between.
Both originally from Iowa, they formed in New Orleans mid-pandemic. Since then, they've been traveling half of the year as a duo, playing all across the central and eastern U.S. and living out of a 4-window schoolbus. They now perform as a 3-piece band and are currently semi-rooted in the woods of Iowa overlooking the Mississippi.
