30 minutes of barefoot nature connection can transform your lunch hour into a restorative nature experience.
About this Event

Our bare feet help us balance, love a good tickle, and connect us to the earth. But can walking barefoot on the earth also reduce inflammation, improve mood, enhance creativity and help solve a problem?

Want to find out?

Each week we explore the science of earthing or grounding along with a whole smorgasbord of current nature-therapies where the science is finally catching up with the human experience.

"When I’m leading a nature therapy or an eco-somatic movement experience, the goal is to leave everyone feeling restored; emotionally, physically, perhaps spiritually. I want each person to notice, in their own way, a positive shift in their wellness, discover something new about nature's restorative power, or realise how they can recreate their experience independently or for others. For me, that's the gift that keeps on giving.” - Damien

Barefoot & Grounded explores the science of nature connection or what Richard Louv calls, the 'nature principle'.

In a ZERO foot-shamming, friendly, fun and playful setting, Barefoot & Grounded offers a 30-40 minute lunchtime escape designed specifically for busy urban professionals seeking a meaningful break from office life.

Bring your bunions and scars, your gnarly nails, and as Jack Johnson sings, your "bubbly toes." Free your feet and let them feel the earth for a while.

Also bring your frustrations and problems ... nature might have an answer for you.

And ... bring your lunch and enjoy a fun, explorative barefoot nature connection experience in accessible green spaces within walking distance of business districts, transforming your lunch hour into a restorative nature experience.

Science & nature connection

Toes and feet are curiously delighfut things that get stuck inside shoes all day preventing them from expressing and finding their true potetial!

Scientific research consistently shows that connecting with nature can significantly improve mood, feelings of connection, and productivity. Studies have found that spending time in natural settings can reduce stress hormones by up to 16%, increase feelings of happiness and well-being, and enhance cognitive function including creativity and problem-solving abilities.

Even brief nature interactions during a workday can lead to measurable improvements in focus, mental clarity, and emotional regulation, making nature breaks not just pleasant experiences but practical productivity tools.

Each session combines elements of barefoot exploration, playful movement, forest bathing techniques, and sensory awareness exercises to help you disconnect from workplace stress and reconnect with both nature and yourself.

  • Accessible Format: No special equipment or prior experience needed—just bring yourself and a willingness to experience nature with fresh eyes.
  • Earthing Benefits: Experience the science-backed practice of "grounding" - direct skin contact with the earth's surface that has been shown to reduce inflammation, improve sleep, and decrease stress hormones through the transfer of electrons from the earth.
  • Nature's Restorative Power: Tap into what researchers call "attention restoration theory" - studies show that even brief exposure to natural environments can improve concentration, reduce mental fatigue, and lower cortisol levels by up to 16%.

After just one session, you'll return to work feeling refreshed, grounded, and more creative. Regular participation can lead to lasting benefits for stress management, productivity, and overall wellbeing.
