About this Event
In the mid-19th century, a wave of immigrants fleeing the German Revolution of 1848 settled in the Bronx. They established breweries, churning out German-style beer. Lighter and fizzier than English ale, lager soon became the drink of choice for New Yorkers. More than 100 years later, the Bronx brewing tradition continues to evolve. Today’s brewers, like The Bronx Brewery, celebrate the borough’s culture with offerings like Mexican-style lagers, collaborations with local artists, and community events that reflect the area’s current residents and distinct character.
Join us on Sunday, March 5th at 2pm as Pastor Crespo and Steven Payne from Bronx County Historical Society share insights into the history and people of the Port Morris neighborhood. We’ll also learn about their work to collect and preserve the deep and diverse culture of the Bronx.
Our host, The Bronx Brewery, offers way more than just lager— treat yourself to a variety of craft beers, empanadas, and pizza.
