Baptist Passover is a Southern family drama with dark comedy, faith, politics, buried history, and one dinner that refuses to stay polite.
Set in April 2022, during the rare overlap of Passover and Easter, the play follows Huey Walker, a gay Southern son living in New York, as he returns home to his rural evangelical family. What begins as a family gathering becomes a confrontation with silence, survival, inheritance, and the stories people tell to keep a family intact.
As old wounds surface and hidden truths come into focus, Baptist Passover asks:
What are you willing to pay for the right to speak your mind?
Join us for the world premiere staged reading of this full-length play at The Flea Theater as part of the 8th season of The Rogue Theater Festival.
