Banned Book Read-In

From 11-5:30 p.m. we will be protesting book bans at our shop, and we are stronger together, so we’d love to see you there. Pop in during that time to participate in a few ways:

📖 Bring a book (banned or otherwise) and read with us. We’ll have cozy spots to read set up inside hygge coworking (come into our shop to enter) or you can find a space anywhere at Camp North End. The goal? Normalized reading banned books in public. This is not quite a Silent Book Club - we recommend bringing headphones for potential distractions!

✍️ Write a postcard to our representatives highlighting the harm book bans cause and encouraging them to speak out. We will have postcards available for you for free, and then we will mail them on your behalf.

📚 Donate books (banned or otherwise) to our Promising Pages book drive we’ll host that day. Promising Pages is a local nonprofit which distributes books to students throughout Charlotte to help them build their home library. You can purchase books from our shop to donate or bring your own. Used books must be in like-new condition.

🧑‍🎓 Learn how you can fight local book bans. We’ll have literature and information set up to inform you of how to fight locally against book dbans by getting involved with your local school board.

📕 Build your own library. All banned books in our shop will be 10% off during the event.

This event is free and no registration is required. Show up, show out, and let’s read some stuff they don’t want us to 😉
