About this Event

Banking on Your Success is a 6-week (once every Tuesday night in -person and Saturday morning via Zoom online) business development training program for business owners in Southern California. The overarching mission of BYS is to create opportunities for success by educating and aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage business owners on the fundamentals of business with the goal of developing “loan-ready” small businesses. At the conclusion of the class, participants will have an opportunity to pitch their business idea for the chance to win business start-up grants, scholarships, and cash prizes up to $2,500 each.

Program Requirements:

This class will be delivered in "Hybrid" format (In-person (TBA) California or online via Zoom). The schedule is: Tuesdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm May 14th - June 18th (In-person or Online), and Saturday mornings via Zoom only at 10am PDT for all participants. For online zoom, each participant must have a device capable of running on the Zoom platform. It is strongly recommended that you use a laptop computer or a tablet/iPad device. Below are the minimum requirements:

  • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
  • A webcam or HD webcam - built-in or USB plug-in
  • Or, an HD cam or HD camcorder with video capture card

  • macOS X with macOS 10.7 or later
  • Windows 10 Note: For devices running Windows 10, they must run Windows 10 Home, Pro, or Enterprise. S Mode is not supported.
  • Windows 8 or 8.1
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista with SP1 or later
  • Windows XP with SP3 or later

How to Access Capital

At the conclusion of the class, we will have a pitch competition (like the show Shark Tank) which allows you the opportunity to earn grants and funding for your business! Details to follow.

The class format and structure include group discussions with subject matter expert facilitator and subject matter expert/guest presenters.
