B&B Theatres at Mall of America Opening First ScreenX Auditorium in MN

(Bloomington, MN) June 17, 2022 -- B&B Theatres Bloomington - Mall of America 13 announces the updated grand opening of ScreenX to officially occur on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, due to construction delay. ScreenX is the world's first multi-projection immersive cinematic platform, exploding the movie-goer's viewing experience by expanding the onscreen action onto the sidewalls of the auditorium and creating a totally comprehensive visual experience.

ScreenX uses five projectors to expand the film beyond the main screen, projecting it onto the two side walls as well – extending all the way to the back of the auditorium – so that even your peripheral vision is absorbed in whatever is happening on the screen. Speaking of the implementation of this groundbreaking technology, B&B Theatre’s President & CEO Bob Bagby said, "Our guests will be blown away by the immersive experience of ScreenX, that needs to be seen to be believed!"

According to Mark Hassing, B&B Theatre’s Marketing and Events Manager, specifically for the Mall of America location, Hassing states, “While we are still fairly new to Minnesota, we are certainly not new to the movie industry as our family-owned movie chain has been in business since 1924.” Adding that one of B&B Theatre’s core values is “innovation,” hence the importance of delivering a higher-level movie-going experience for its guests.

Hassing adds, “The construction delay of our ScreenX auditorium is disappointing as we had hoped for opening Memorial Day weekend. However, pleased that we are back on track for the upcoming blockbuster summer movies.” The official launch will be July 13, with ribbon-cutting ceremonies presented by Bloomington Chamber of Commerce (2:30 pm to 4 pm), and Edina Chamber of Commerce (4 pm to 5 pm), plus Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce on August 17 (1:30 pm to 2:30 pm).
