The Baltimore Washington One Carnival is an annual Caribbean Carnival celebration that sees two cities come together to celebrate and embrace Caribbean Island culture! The Baltimore Washington One Carnival draws over 35,000 locals and visitors to the celebration.
The Baltimore Washington One Carnival has been held for 42 years. The carnival is organised by the Caribbean American Carnival Association of Baltimore (CACAB) in conjunction with the DC Caribbean Carnival, Inc. (DCCC).
The Baltimore Washington One Carnival kicks off on Friday, July 7 with a “Runaway Jouvert” celebration at Historic Druid Hill Park (The Bowl) and continues on Saturday, July 8 with a Caribbean Parade which will winds its way through the streets of Baltimore in the Park Heights community then culminates at Druid Hill Park with a Caribbean festival at the Druid Hill Park (The Bowl). This festival continues at Druid Hill Park on Sunday, July 9 with a Family Fun Day.
The Carnival will be filled with the tastes, sights, and sounds of the Caribbean. There will be lots of colorful costumes, dancing, music and so much more. The Caribbean Festival after the parade is a family-friendly event that will have activities for the whole family.
Baltimore Washington One Carnival delights all of the senses! It is all about embracing traditional Caribbean cuisine, dance and music. The carnival will be filled with colorful costumes, music, delicious food and incredible arts and crafts. The carnival is fun for the entire family!
About this Event
Carnival is an important part of Caribbean culture. Carnival depicts Caribbean cultural expressions as well as historical significance. Carnival was created to retain and promote the rich heritage and culture of the Caribbean Islands.
Pride and optimism are the hallmarks that drive Caribbean Carnival which is world-renowned for its colorful, memorable, and compelling mas parades filled with creative and talented masquerades and marching bands.
The Baltimore Washington One Carnival is about encouraging cross-cultural programs within the community to expand Caribbean culture as well as educate the next generation of Caribbean youths in Caribbean arts, crafts and culture.
Baltimore Washington One Carnival Parade Route
Parade Begins: Ellerslie Ave & E 33rd St, Baltimore MD 21218
Parade Ends: Clifton Park, 2803 St. Lo Drive, Baltimore MD 21213
The Baltimore Washington One Carnival Mas Parade begins in the Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore on 33rd Street, and will wind its way along The Alameda. After it will continue on to Clifton Park via St. Lo Drive.
If you are coming from close by you are able to catch the commuter MARC train or the Amtrak train. Baltimore has great public transport options to get you around the city. You can also take the Greyhound or Bolt Bus.
If you are coming from further away you can fly to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, which is the primary international airport serving Baltimore, Maryland. It is just one of three major airports serving the Baltimore–Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
