Please join us at the Baltimore Book Festival on September 28 to celebrate “American Teenager,” a groundbreaking book centering the experiences of trans youth and the people who love them. At 2pm, queer educator and community organizer Jabari Lyles will moderate a discussion with author Nico Lang, an award-winning LGBTQ+ editor and journalist who spent a year traveling the country to document the everyday lives of trans kids. Early reviews have lauded "American Teenager" as an “incredibly important, humane account of the joys and struggles so many youth currently under attack in our country” (Garrard Conley, author of “Boy Erased”) and “deep, silly, introspective, sweet, and smart, just like teens themselves” (Maia Kokabe, author of “Gender Queer”).
The conversation will take place at the 32nd St. Stage at 32nd and Greenmount Ave., just steps away from Red Emma's Bookstore and Coffeehouse. Special thanks to John Duda and the Red Emma's staff for hosting this important event.
