Baltic BetrayalIn 1974, Australian Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam became the first Western leader to recognise as legal the incorporation of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania into the USSR.
Protests by Baltic communities followed, and the controversial decision was reversed when the Liberal-National Coalition won the 1975 election.
Prominent Australian-Latvian Valda Liepina will give the inside story of those heady days in an event moderated by journalist Jonas Masanauskas. All welcome.
