Ballet Under the Stars - 2023

Metamorphosis Dance’s season will close with our 30th Anniversary of presenting the annual free-to-the-public production of Ballet Under the Stars at the Zilker Hillside Theater June 2nd-3rd. We're proud of our long-standing tradition of offering free performances at Zilker and we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary by launching our $30 for 30 years fundraising campaign! We would love for you to help us celebrate by contributing. With your donation, you are helping to keep this Austin tradition of live dance performances going for many years to come!

Ballet Under the Stars 2023 opens with a re-staging of the Pas de Six from the classical ballet La Esmeralda set to the beautiful music of composers Cesare Pugni and Riccardo Drigo. The production will also feature an adaptation of All That Jazz from the Broadway hit musical Chicago. Additionally, audiences will enjoy the premiere of a new contemporary ballet choreographed by Artistic Director Melanie Kregel and other original works created by artists of the company, ranging in styles from classical to modern. Spend the evening with our artists as they exhibit wonderful artistry and virtuosic dancing under the stars!

The show will start just before sundown, around 8pm, on June 2nd and 3rd (Rain Date June 4th,) at Zilker Hillside Theater. Set up your blankets on the hillside early to enjoy the park and watch the pre-show preparations of the dancers. This Austin tradition is fun for the whole family and a great way to kick off your summer! Whether it's your first time at a dance performance or you are a seasoned patron of the arts, you will be amazed at the talent and creativity of our artists.

Tickets are free. Please get your tickets through Eventbrite to let us know you’re coming! It helps us keep track of the number of attendees.

Show will start at approximately 8pm; arrive early to place your blankets in a great spot to see the show. High backed chairs are only allowed at the top of the hillside. Please be mindful when placing low chairs so that the view is not obstructed for other patrons. 

Concessions will be available - cash preferred, but we will have the ability to swipe.

During intermission a bucket is passed for donations and any amount is graciously accepted. Cash preferred, but we will have the ability to swipe.
