Balboa is a swing dance that was first popularised in the ballrooms of Southern California while the Lindy Hoppers were lindy hopping over in New York. It’s a close-hold dance, a lot of shufflin’ fun, and great to fast music. Take a quick look here at some balboa dancing:
Blues music and dance were born in the American South, rooted in Black American traditions, which are themselves steeped in sub-Saharan African music and movement traditions.
