Baking with Honeypie Bakeshop | Puff Pastry Hand Pies

In this hands-on pie making lesson, taught by our founder and Chief Executive Pie Officer, Valeri Lucks, you will learn the techniques for making an all-butter "rough puff" pastry dough - the kind of dough that bakes into tall and lovely, tender, flaky layers - and how to make hand pies with it (aka pocket pies or fancy pop tarts).

We will each make our own all-butter dough and learn the folding and rolling process for making "rough puff" pastry. We will learn about fillings that are best for tiny pies and how to use this dough to assemble various shapes and sizes (as well as what other delicious things this dough can be used for). We will fully bake our hand pies in class and you'll go home with 6 finished pies to share - perfect for your Valentines - or keep them for yourself (they freeze beautifully).

Our classes are held at the Honeypie Bakeshop kitchen inside our sister cafe Palomino, this hands-on class will guide you through a variety of different aspects of baking and give you a peek into the life of our bakeshop. Class does have us standing most of the time and working at a table in a professional kitchen. Should you need a seated option for class, please contact us and we can make arrangements.

Ticket for class includes a tap beer, well cocktail, glass of wine, or NA beverage of your choice - all of your ingredients, a printed recipe with instructions, and your finished treats!

Classes are approximately 2.5-3 hours and are limited to 12 people. The Palomino kitchen and bar is open before class and during class serving drinks and our full dinner menu.

(Please note, we often have long wait lists for our pie classes. Tickets to class are non-refundable if you cancel without more than 72 hours notice. If you need to cancel within 72 hours of class, you are welcome to email us, and we will offer your spot to a person on the waiting list. If it is taken by someone waiting, we will refund your ticket. You are also welcome to give your ticket to a friend and they can attend in your place.)
