Baile funk and other Afro-Brazilian genres have taken over our playlists and the sets of some of our favourite DJs, so we were eager to celebrate these sonorities within our Fête de la Musique program, with a special evening also highlighting their political (afro, queer, feminist) origins and power.The line up of Baile Sounds #1 will feature the bright future of Brazilian hip-hop (MC Soffia), alongside a pioneer of baile funk (Deize Tigrona), and a hybrid live set by a magician pushing the boundaries of electro funk (Podeserdesligado).
No celebration would be complete without powerful DJ sets. Our evening will begin and end respectively with a local rising star (Joliiah) and a Lisbon-based icon of Afro-Brazilian queer nightlife (DIDI), who both embody the magic of Baile Sounds.
