Shilpa Kalā Nidhi brings to you a hands-on Bagru handblock printing experience led by master artisan ANUP CHHIPA from Rajasthan. This is an immersive workshop where you get to work with natural dyes, traditional Dabu mud-resist printing, and Shibori tie-dye techniques. You will create and take home your own printed stole, shirt, or tote bag, designed by you.
This is a rare opportunity to explore traditional blockprinting techniques firsthand from a fifth-generation practitioner in Bagru.
What you will experience
• A hands-on printing session with Anup Chhipa, using hand-carved wooden blocks with natural and azo-free dyes
• Work on traditional Dabu mud-resist printing technique with natural Indigo dye
• Explore the Shibori tie and dye technique and make your own patterns
• Create and take home your own hand-printed textile (You will get one complimentary product of your choice to print on. You can select from: Canvas tote bag, stole, scarf, set of 2 dining place mats, or 4 dining napkins)

You will print your own design on a product of your choice and take your finished piece home at the end of the workshop.
About the Artisan
Anup Chhipa is a 5th-generation traditional handblock printing artisan from Bagru, Rajasthan, carrying forward a craft that has been practiced in his family for generations. Having grown up in a family workshop, he learned the techniques of hand block printing from an early age and continues to work with traditional printing methods through his block print house, Anaprinta Textiles. Deeply passionate about preserving this heritage craft, Anup conducts hands-on workshops for participants from across India and around the world.
Shilpa Kalā Nidhi Handloom Exhibition & Sale
The event will also feature an exhibition and sale of pure handloom sarees and authentic Bagru handblock printed cottons including apparel, sarees, home decor, and other handcrafted pieces. Alongside the workshop, visitors can explore and purchase textiles created using traditional Bagru printing techniques and natural dyes.The exhibition is open for all visitors.
