The TechForge Accelerator from Business Sheffield comprises of 5 in-person workshop sessions designed to support technology-centred startups
About this Event

Looking for investment to move your tech startup forward but not sure which funding route could be right for your business?

The TechForge Accelerator from Business Sheffield is a series of five in-person workshops designed to support technology-centred startups, particularly those involving software.

The accelerator is best suited to early-stage founders. You might have an idea you're exploring, be developing a prototype or Minimum Viable Product (MVP), or have already started trading.

You can attend one or more workshops in the TechForge Accelerator series depending on your needs. Each workshop lasts just over two hours, with an opportunity to network at the end.

What is this TechForge Accelerator workshop about?

The final session of the TechForge Accelerator explores different options for raising external investment for your tech startup.

Whether you're looking to raise £5,000 or £500,000, there are different routes you could consider. This workshop introduces three of these options: debt, equity investment and crowdfunding.

You'll explore how these funding routes work and consider which options could be suitable for your business.

The session will also look in more detail at equity investment and some of the things you'll need to know when working towards your first equity investment deal.

What will I learn?

During the workshop, you'll explore:

Different ways to raise investment
Get an introduction to different external funding options available to startups, including debt, equity investment and crowdfunding.

Debt funding

Equity investment
Understand equity investment, which involves the sale of shares in the business, and explore this funding route in more detail.

Crowdfunding
Learn about crowdfunding as another potential route for raising money from the general public.

Choosing an investment route
Explore the different options and consider which funding routes could be suitable for your business.
