BAD FRIDAY BBQ ALL DAYER
bit.ly/sonictonictickets
Bad Friday is a bbq all-dayer featuring eight electrifying bands - from Belfast's garage punk trio Jock, channeling the energy of riot grrrl icons, to the feminist garage-rock of The Baby Seals, and the math-rock-made-sexy sounds of Brighton's SLAG. Also joining the bill are the alt-rock energy of Liverpool’s alright (okay), the raucous alt-rock of Bristol’s Deadheading, the gothic darkwave pop of Border Widow (featuring members of Big Joanie), the powerful storytelling of Dogviolet, and the fuzzy, nostalgic indie rock of Hastings’ Woon.
Jock is a Belfast garage punk trio formed in 2022, blending post-punk revival and 90s riot grrrl influencces. They've released singles, including "Joe Duffy," and have performed at notable events like BBC Radio 6 Music's New Music Fix Live and Foo La Fest.

The Baby Seals, are a Cambridge-based band known for their humorous and feminist-themed songs about everyday female experiences. Starting with the viral 'My Labia's Lopsided, But I Don't Mind," they built a strong following through extensive touring, including international shows and major festivals. After a pandemic hiatus and lineup change, they returned with renewed energy, supporting notable acts and recording their debut album, "Chaos," inspired by motherhood.

SLAG, a Brighton-based math rock band formed in late 2023, are known for their intricate guitar riffs, striking stage outfits, and a vocalist with a powerful, androgynous voice. Their song 'Ripped' gained popularity, and they've released a unique workout video. With highly praised live shows and future plans, they're making a distinctive mark on the music scene.

Alright (okay) is a high-energy alt-rock band from the North West, known for their intense live shows and raw, distorted sound. They've built a strong underground following, releasing singles in 2024 and playing prominent festivals, setting the stage for their debut EP in 2025. They're reminiscent of bands like Shame, Parquet Courts.

From the leafy dwells of suburban Bristol, Deadheading's racuous indie rock is enchanting and honest. The duo's output has been a sonic collage of excellently crafted pop songs buried beneath interjections of lo-fi grit, culminating in an experience that feels like the frantic, jangle pop equivalent of a found footage movie

Border Widow, formed by Chardine Taylor-Stone (Big Joanie) and Hatty Carmen (Thigh High, Princess Republic) creates darkwave pop with gothic and atmospheric soundscapes, drawing inspiration from artists like Tricky and PJ Harvey, and exploring themes of dark femininity from folklore and mythology.

Dogviolet, a London-based four-piece, blends grunge, goth, and 90s rock to tell stories of social injustice and personal struggles, using nature as a metaphor and featuring dissonant guitars and resonant vocals.

Emerging from the ashes of several well-loved Hastings based independent alternative rock bands, Woon blend their love of obscure American indie, grunge and nineties slacker rock with serious pop sensibilities. The power trio create a sense of fuzzy nostalgia that bites as well as barks.
