It’s been a hot summer in the Demonstration Organic Garden at Northwest Park, but the UConn Extension Master Gardeners have persevered! As we enter our ninth year as a volunteer initiative led by the Hartford and Tolland County Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, we continue to develop an engaging public "green" space. This area offers self-guided educational experiences focused on cultivating herbs, vegetables, and perennial food crops. Now, we want to meet in person to share successes and challenges among all of us; novice and experienced gardeners alike – even the horticulture-curious! See what we have in our beds, do some hands-on harvesting, share your garden stories, and leave with new ideas. We’ll discuss cover cropping, seed saving, composting and fall harvesting. While we have been learning new ways to build good soil and grow healthier plants, we want you to know how, too!
Take home free plants and seeds while enjoying seasonal refreshments!
