A free Backyard Composting Workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Buttonwood Community Center, 1 Oneida Street, New Bedford.
New Bedford and Dartmouth residents who attend and complete the workshop will receive one free backyard compost bin and a free 2-gallon plastic kitchen counter bin, one each per address, while supplies last. In addition, four residents will be randomly selected to receive a free 1.3-gallon stainless steel kitchen counter bin.
The workshop will cover:
• Compost bin assembly
• Composting best practices
• How to use compost at home
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. Proof of New Bedford or Dartmouth residency required to receive one free backyard compost bin and a free kitchen counter bin.
