About this Event

Backpacks, Bedtimes, and Big Feelings: Transition Support for Parents and Families

The transition back to school affects more than backpacks, supplies, and schedules. For children and parents, it can mean sudden changes in sleep, daily structure, expectations, responsibilities, and social demands—all while the entire family works to establish a new routine.

Backpacks, Bedtimes, and Big Feelings is a free mental health workshop created to help parents and families make that transition more manageable.

The workshop will be presented by Alayne Henley, R.M.H.C.I., Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern, who brings more than 20 years of experience as a teacher in addition to her work supporting children, teens, parents, and families.

Parents will learn practical ways to gradually reset sleep and daily routines, prepare children for upcoming changes, simplify mornings and evenings, encourage conversations about worries and excitement, recognize behavior that may be communicating stress, and create greater predictability during the transition.

Our goal isn't to create a perfect first day of school. It's to give families practical tools that can help reduce unnecessary stress and create a healthier, more confident start to the school year.

This workshop is FREE and open to parents and families. Space is limited, so advance registration is encouraged.
