Back to the Streets - Pride Weekend

Pride has always lived in the streets. This September, we’re taking it back there.
Back to the Streets brings Calgary Pride Week to street level for a full weekend of queer and trans art, drag, music, sport, gathering, neighbourhood happenings, local businesses, community organizations and very good reasons to spend considerably more time in Inglewood than originally planned.
This is not Pride simply landing in the neighbourhood for a weekend.
It’s Pride being built with the neighbourhood.
From lawn bowling on Friday to the Treaty 7 Dyke and Trans March and a massive Saturday gathering at Cold Garden, through Sunday programming led by Black Pride YYC, Back to the Streets connects grassroots Pride traditions with artists, businesses, organizers, venues and community across Inglewood.
Some events are free. Some are ticketed. Some are all ages. Some are very much for the grown-ups.
Here’s the weekend.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
THE WEEKEND GETS ROLLING. LITERALLY.
The Apollo Western Cup Lawn Bowling Competition kicks things off with an afternoon and evening of lawn bowling, community and queer sporting glory.
4PM – 8:30PM
Inglewood Lawn Bowling Club
All ages
Then the bowling shoes come off and Friday keeps going with an after-party at High Line Brewing.
Consider this your warm-up lap.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
THE MARCH HAS SOMEWHERE TO LAND.
Saturday begins with the Treaty 7 Dyke and Trans March, carrying dyke and trans visibility from The Confluence toward Inglewood.
Gather at The Confluence from 12PM
March departs at 1PM
When the March reaches Inglewood, it opens into Calgary Pride’s All-Ages Celebration presented by TD at Cold Garden.
From 1PM – 6PM, Cold Garden becomes the heart of a free, all-ages afternoon of queer and trans artists, drag, live music, performance, community gathering and Pride at street level.
Around it, Inglewood keeps moving too. Local businesses, community organizations and neighbourhood partners are bringing their own programming, offers, activities and reasons to wander.
1PM – 6PM
Cold Garden + around Inglewood
FREE + ALL AGES
And then Saturday changes outfits.
GLAM ON TAP: SUNSET BLOCK PARTY
After the free daytime programming wraps, Cold Garden keeps the block going with Glam on Tap, presented by University of Calgary Alumni.
Drag. Live performance. Music. DJs. Cold Garden after dark.
6:30PM – 10PM
Cold Garden
18+ · Ticketed
And because apparently Saturday has no intention of clocking out early, the night continues afterward at Cold Garden.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
THE PARADE ENDS. PRIDE DOESN’T.
After the Calgary Pride Parade, head east.
Black Pride YYC brings Sunday programming to Inglewood, creating space for Black queer and trans community, artists, culture, connection and celebration as Pride Weekend keeps moving beyond the parade route.
And when the daytime programming wraps, Versions carries the weekend into its final after-party.
More Sunday programming and artist details are coming.
THREE DAYS. ONE NEIGHBOURHOOD. A LOT OF PRIDE.
Back to the Streets is a community-led Pride Weekend rooted in public gathering, queer and trans visibility, local arts, grassroots organizing and neighbourhood participation.
It honours the history that brought Pride into the streets while asking what becomes possible when marches, artists, community organizations, businesses, venues and neighbours have somewhere to gather together.
Community-led. Street-powered.
Come for one thing. Come for everything. Follow the music, the march, the bowling balls, the patios or the unusually well-dressed people moving east.
