Why a Dance Party for our 40th Anniversary? (Main Event Sponsor Assiniboine Credit Union)
Dancing is healing. It is a release.
It can be overwhelming to be an eco-conscious person.
Let’s dance to some retro ‘80s music (We were founded in the '80s!).
Let’s look back at the past 40 years and celebrate past successes, while also acknowledging future challenges.
More than anything, let's come together, build community, have a lot of fun, and raise a bit of money for the Manitoba Eco-Network.
Why a Devil May Hair 80s Hair Styling Contest? (Sponsored by Devil May Care)
To celebrate the power of organized global action to reverse ecological harm as evidenced by the 1987 Montreal Protocol to Protect the Ozone Layer — the only treaty to be universally ratified by every country on earth.
According to some models, the Montreal Protocol has helped prevent up to two million cases of skin cancer yearly and avoided millions of cataract cases worldwide.
Today, the ozone hole still exists, forming every year over Antarctica in the spring and closing up again over the summer, But there’s evidence it’s starting to disappear — and recover.
That said, new threats and challenges to the ozone and the climate persist — Even today, don’t use aerosol hair spray!
Why a Headbaning Contest? (Sponsored by Peg City)
Sometimes it can feel that we are facing the same environmental battles over and over again.
Like we are banging our head against the wall.
Skip the wall, come bang out your frustrations on stage, and if you are determined to be the best you will win $50 cash.
