Join Central Iowa Rainbow Families and the Queer & Trans Action Group of First Unitarian Church (www.facebook.com/tagiowa) as we celebrate the end of summer and kick off a new school year together!

1:00–4:00 p.m.
Witmer Park – Southwest Shelter
1610 34th St., Des Moines
Drop by anytime during the afternoon to connect with other LGBTQ+ and allied families and folx of all ages while enjoying ice cream, frozen treats, and cold beverages. Dairy-free and gluten-free options will be available, along with a fun sundae bar featuring lots of toppings!
We'll also have:
-- Arts and crafts
-- Lawn games
-- Playground access right next to the shelter
-- Pond with a fishing pier just down the hill
The shelter is covered, with restrooms and drinking water nearby.
Everyone is welcome! Whether you're a longtime Rainbow Families member or joining us for the first time, we'd love to see you.
Parking & Directions
Parking is available in the small lot at 34th Street & Witmer Parkway. From there, follow the path up the hill on the south side of the pond to the larger shelter and playground. (Don't take the path around the north side of the pond—it leads to a different shelter.) You can also park along 37th Street, which is closer to the shelter.
