This unforgettable evening takes place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the legendary Aretha’s Jazz Café, honoring the life, legacy, and timeless music of one of smooth jazz’s founding fathers.

Hosted by the charismatic Mike Bonner, the tribute will once again feature Detroit’s own saxophone virtuoso, Shelby Brown, whose powerful and soulful performances have captivated audiences across the nation. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the show begins at 7:30 PM. Tickets are just $35, offering an intimate and electrifying night for jazz lovers and music enthusiasts alike.

Born on December 12, 1943, Grover Washington Jr. was a visionary saxophonist who blended jazz-funk and soul-jazz into a sound that continues to inspire generations. As one of the pioneers of smooth jazz, his mastery created timeless classics including “Mister Magic,” “Winelight,” and “Just the Two of Us.” His artistry as a composer, arranger, and producer earned him Grammy Awards and left an indelible mark on the world of music.
