Back 2 Back 4 Ft. Guru, Bogman, Spoon, RyGuy
About this Event
Beats Pacifik is proud to present Back to Back, a night dedicated to the inability to plan. Pairing DJs with The Guru, with little practice and no plan to bring the full spontaneity of professionals reading the dancefloor. Back to Back features a mix of genres to take you on a journey through the spectrum of electronic music.
The fourth edition is very special as not only does it mark one year since the idea first came to fruition after a telephone call from the downbeat and 24 hours to plan and promote, it’s also Guru’s birthday. The first night, July 11 2025, was put together in just over 24 hours and sparked the idea to put together a regular night that featured DJ’s who rarely played together going back to back without any plan other than a genre or vibe.
So to start the night we will have RyGuy, everybody’s favorite and an absolute House and UKG legend of the island paired with Guru for a legendary opening set of wobbly basslines and jackin’ house steppers. Next we are so excited to be able to feature the smooth side of Drum n’ Bass with Spoon, a talent that has been rocking the floors of Victoria and beyond for ages. Guru and Spoon will bring a sultry smooth liquid vibe topped with some DnB stompers to ease into the madness that awaits. For our final pairing, we’re welcoming back the duo that started it all, Bogman and once again, Guru. One year ago, the legend that helped to create the Deepwest Soundsystem Crew came together with Guru to provide some of the highest energy hardest hitting, amen smashing Jungle that they could muster. And believe me when I say Bogman and Guru can and will bring the roof down.
If you have been there for any edition of Back 2 Back, you know this is a night of spontaneity. Typically most of us have rarely played together, and we won’t be planning anything other than keeping the vibes high while the feet keep moving.

In 2005 a war cry sounded that shook the very bedrock on which Vancouver Island sits. “SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!” Was the roar, and it brought forth a prodigy of broken beat blends.
Like a Shaolin monk in his mastery of technicality and calm commanding presence, Spoon weaves journeys on which to get lost on the dancefloor. A deep love of hip hop and the fine art of the broken beat peeks through in all Spoon’s sets, From Liquid smooth Drum & Bass, to Jungle, Breaks and beyond. A festival favorite, Spoon has held his own on decks up and down the island, and as far as Burning Man. From club residencies, including the wildly popular Hush Nightclub in Victoria BC, to the forest dancefloors of beautiful British Columbia festivals, Spoon has cemented his place as a veteran of Vancouver Island night life. Now working with V.E.M.C. (Victoria Electronic Music Collective) and its partner Thirrrsty Bar,
Spoon is helping to create spaces designed to wonder crowds and transport them to another world. So, the next time you see Spoon on a bill don’t skip finding your space on the floor and drifting away on an auditory voyage through your mind. Go on, get meta with him.

Since arriving in Victoria BC in 2008, Bogman has established himself as a nasty beatmaker and discriminating selector, specializing in ragga-jungle, breakcore, dancehall, roots reggae, dub, and hip hop.
He’s shared stages with monsters such Krinjah, Sixteenarmedjack, Marcus Visionary, Grenier, Taal Mala, Greazus, and Tank Gyal, held residencies at the Reef and the Mint restaurants, and was a fixture at Hush Nightclub's long-running underground dance music nights Theory Thursdays.
Expect heavy music for heads, with no fluff or filler.

From the sunny beaches of Canada, emanating from the Zen Den a dulcet tone rings out. Hailing from a mystical land known as “The Basement”, The Guru cultivated his love for music while scouring record collections. Through drums The Guru discovered a love for the rhythms that beat deep within us. Armed with a pair of turntables and a collection of music that rivals most libraries, he embarked on a journey to share his means of meditation with the world. His mission? To ensure that everyone gets to ride a sonic wave of ripping Amen breaks, pumping Disco drums and even the odd dub echo on a journey into music.
The Guru has been exploring and sharing the expanse of music since the late 90’s. A focus for Guru came in fostering true Jungle/DnB with Come Correct Sound Crew in Calgary, Alberta. As well as his time digging through endless crates in search of rare Roots Reggae and Dancehall, which he performed at both, Unity Sound Saturdays and the long running Dub at the Pub. The Guru played every venue in Calgary that existed since 2000, bringing his element to popular residencies, raves and club nights over his near 30 year career. With many festival appearances under his belt including Shambhala, Connect Festival, FozzyFest, Wicked Woods, Electric Sky Festival, OtherWorld along with many more and regular shows around the sunny shores of Victoria, Canada The Guru’s steam is still rolling. With a stage presence and effervescence like few others, accompanied by the knowledge of a true veteran of the music world, a Guru performance is truly like none other.
