Bachata Workshop at the SFBC
About this Event
This two-hour workshop with Supernova will include an all-levels-friendly introduction to bachata footwork and partnerwork, along with discussion of spoon theory, access needs, gender inclusivity, and trauma-informed dancing.
You’ll learn a brief history of bachata, as well as the foundations of body movement, timing, musicality, connection, and partner dancing. The footwork taught in the workshop will be directly applicable to the partnerwork.
More than just a dance class, this is an evening of community-building and accessing joy through movement. Social dancing offers a unique way to connect without words through the lead-and-follow relationship, while building trust and practicing clear communication and consent on the dance floor.
Please dress comfortably for dancing (workout clothes are not necessary). To help care for the meditation – and dance! – room, we ask that no shoes be worn inside.
