Meet the teachers

Patricia Solorzano found her passion for dance while studying to obtain her Bachelor's degree from George Mason University. Born in El Salvador, she started dancing bachata 10 years ago under the supervision of Kat Arias, from the world champion Ferocity Dance Company. A few years later, she decided to challenge herself and learn salsa. She joined Yamulee DC under the direction of Maria Krupholter. She continues to pursue her passion by traveling and learning with world-class dancers such as Karel Flores, Adolfo Indacochea, Amneris Martinez, and Tania Carnassa. When teaching, she emphasizes connection with your partner and having fun! She is one of the founders of Encanto Dance Team and has taught salsa at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the UVA Salsa Festival.

Luis Arduz is a first-generation immigrant with parents from Bolivia and the Dominican Republic. His passion for dance came at an early age. He has participated in Quinceañeras, Latin festival showcases, conference events in major cities around the U.S. and even international trips such as Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Germany, and France. Luis has been a part of several dance companies in his home state of Kentucky and is a member of Encanto Dance Team. Luis works as a Licensed Specialist for the Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program in Virginia during the day and teaches at Salsa with Silvia at night. In his free time he enjoys cooking, caring for his two puppies, and traveling to visit family. Luis always looks for an opportunity to demonstrate his passion in teaching individuals and group dances such as Salsa and Bachata.

About Encanto Dance Project

Encanto Dance Team is a salsa on 2 performance team based in the DMV. Encanto was founded in 2020, by former members Yamulee DC from diverse countries (including the U.S. and abroad). The team navigated the challenges of the pandemic through presistant practice, be it via Zoom or in outdoor basketball courts, motivated by their great passion for dance. Almost two years later, Encanto debuted its first routine, el Swing, in December of 2021. Since its debut, Encanto has been invited to perform in New York and Chicago.
