Among Bach’s output for the harpsichord (or the piano), the French Suites is the set that is most preoccupied with sophistication while the Toccatas, being the most primitive and the least recognisably “Bach”, sit at the other end of the spectrum. In alternating between the French Suites and Toccatas, this concert creates a dialogue between the split personalities of the Beauty and the Beast, the Noble and the Barbarian. The performance will run for 2 hours 15 minutes including an intermission.

The Perfomer:
Stephen Hung graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Apart from his studies on the piano, he also received training on the harpsichord and organ. He is especially drawn to the music of J. S. Bach, and has been trying different concert formats to bring that music to audiences including Jukebox concerts, narrative programme notes and collaborative projects with different visual artists including Oychir and Wong Nga Ting. Stephen is also passionate about teaching, and being informed by psychotherapy and occupational therapy literature, he seeks to give students a healthy and fulfilling learning experience. He designed a “Musical Poker” card game for note-reading, which is now on sale at local shops and online.

熊韋皓畢業於英國皇家音樂學院鋼琴系，並曾學習彈奏古鍵琴及管風琴。他特別熱衷巴哈的音樂，並積極探索不同形式的音樂演奏，例如配合故事、動畫、繪畫、攝影等去一同演繹樂曲。熊氏亦熱衷教學，閱讀過多本關於心理治療與職業治療的書籍，設法令每個學生都有健康豐滿的學琴經歷。他最近設計了一套練習讀譜的《音樂撲克》紙牌遊戲，於小書店及網上發售。
