In this evening’s concert, the organ becomes a profoundly expressive storyteller, moving between quiet introspection and powerful emotional outbursts. Johann Sebastian Bach’s majestic Prelude and Fugue in E flat major BWV 552 opens the programme with radiant grandeur and architectural clarity, while the deeply moving chorale prelude “O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde groß” BWV 622 offers an intimate meditation of rare tenderness and depth.
The emotional palette then shifts to the rich colours of Central Europe. Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann’s Toccata and Fugue in F minor brings passionate virtuosity and late-Romantic warmth, before Louis Vierne’s Symphony No. 2 in E minor (Scherzo, Cantabile and Final) combines sparkling wit, lyrical cantilenas and thrilling drama in unmistakably French symphonic style. Miloslav Kabeláč’s Fantasy in D minor closes the programme with a compelling blend of intensity and mystery, leaving a lingering impression of both struggle and hope.
