Preparing for a new baby can feel overwhelming, but creating a safe environment starts with the right knowledge and skills. This interactive, in-person class is designed for new and expecting parents, caregivers, and family members who want to learn essential injury prevention strategies and lifesaving infant care techniques. The program is divided into two sections:
The first focuses on Family & Friends Infant CPR, where participants will learn how to recognize and respond to infant emergencies, including mild and severe airway obstructions. Using the American Heart Association's practice-while-watching method, attendees will have the opportunity to practice hands only infant CPR skills in a supportive group environment.
The second section covers car seat and product safety, providing guidance on car seat selection and basics, safe baby products, creating a safe baby registry, and current safe sleep recommendations. Taught by Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors, this session equips families with practical tools to help keep infants safe at home and on the road.
Recommended for: New and expecting parents, grandparents, babysitters, and caregivers of infants under one year of age.
