Baby Point Uncovered

On this tour, you’ll learn about the Indigenous history buried along the Humber River section of the ancient Carrying Place Trail, visit the former site of Teiaiagon, a 17th-century Seneca village, and explore how Euro-Canadian settlement reshaped the land. We’ll also discover how the Baby Estate and Robert Home Smith’s garden-style suburb transformed this land into the neighbourhood we see today.

About the Tour Leader

Emily Meikle is a field archaeologist at ASI. She earned her BA in Anthropology and English Literature from McGill University and her Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. She holds an Applied Research archaeological license from the province of Ontario and has worked as an archaeologist in the field and in the lab since 2012.

Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check-in. Feel free to call us at (647) 542-3450 if you are having trouble finding the start location.

End Point: Intersection of Baby Point Rd and Jane St

Length of Tour: Approximately 90 minutes

Distance and Terrain: This tour is approximately 1.2 km, on paved city sidewalks and some unpaved nature trails. Some stair-climbing is required during the tour.

Ticket Price and Registration: This tour is provided for $8.00/person. The total cost is $10.05 (includes a $2.05 transaction fee). Please note that space is limited on our tours. You may not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time. Cash cannot be accepted onsite.

This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
