FILM PROGRAM: BERLIN
BREED AND EDUCATE
Tobias Yves Zintel | 2018 | 10 min
In numerous task-related rehearsals, eight pupils between 11 and 13 years explore and perform the possibilities of self-education. How should lessons be organized in times of network and algorithm-based learning? What happens when the relationship between control and self-empowerment in educational systems is inverted by post-migrant pupils who breed toy robots, are educated by them, and vice versa?

HUSTLE / IDLE
Ale Bachlechner | 2024 | 17 min
The film revolves in a loop around the opposing verbs “to hustle” (to be industrious, to hurry, to procure something illegally, to do sex work) and “to idle” (to be lazy, to wait, to be unproductive). In a denim one-piece with a blonde wig the artist slips into all the characters of a 90s series opening credits, right down to the dog, with just a few props. Various collective visual memories, film language conventions and personal, idiosyncratic longings and attributions overlap in the process.

THE PROSPECTOR
Mike Saijo | 2022 | 3 min
A humorous animation by artist Mike Saijo.

PHOBIA
Wazeem Marzouki | 2022 | 7 min
Being free grants you the grace of sharp vision: to be able to capture a broken edge within a distant window from a vast space. On the other hand, the opposite could verily not, even if that edge was nipping at your nose.

MELTDOWN: WEAPONS OF MASS CONSTRUCTION
May Sun/Juri Koll | 2018 | 9 min
The death toll from gun violence in the U.S. per capita is catastrophic. How do guns affect our society and what is being done - how do we turn swords into plowshares?

EMERGENCY
Ulysses Jenkins | 2025 | 5 min
This acclaimed artist poses questions regarding our present circumstances in an era of tyranny.
FILM PROGRAM: MEXICO CITY
HOW, BEING FISH, CAN WE SEE THE WATER
Bárbara Foulkes | 2022 | 38 min
A choreography performed by two dancers and an industrial excavator, developed over the course of a single day. The piece explores the relationship between the human body and machinery, emphasizing the tension between fragility and strength. Through synchronized movements, the excavator becomes a third performer—digging, lifting, turning, and unloading with its articulated arm and bucket, mounted on two large tracks. Action, movement, and structure form the foundation of the choreographic score created by Foulkes, who also integrates a fourth element—the perspective of the camera.
