BIO:
On September 11, John celebrates his Golden Jubilee as a songwriter. It was in September of 1972 that he sat down at his mother’s Cable-Nelson piano and did something he didn’t imagine he could do. He wrote a song.
In the 50 years that followed, he has written approximately 5,000 songs in nearly every genre. He has performed them, solo or with a band, in 24 states. Since John began releasing them to the streaming services in late 2022, his songs have been streamed in at least 42 countries.
In his September 11 show, John will look back on his fifty years as a writer, playing the old ones as well as the new. Along with the songs will come the stories behind them — the stories his small cadre of fans will probably have memorized by rote.
As part of his Jubilee Year, John is also publishing Baby Pictures: My Year on the Road with Baby Lester and the Buggybumpers, a memoir he began writing in 1996 about his coming of age in the mud-70s with a traveling hotel lounge show band.
