Stop by The Book Garden in Bountiful (2 North Main Street) for an author signing / meet and greet with B. H. Lewis - author of Among the Twisted Roots.
About the book:
Buried beneath the surface, eighteen-year-old Terran has never known the world above until an outsider enters the tunnels and reveals a truth his people were never meant to discover.
For five years, Terran has carried the weight of his mother’s death, blaming himself for the moment she slipped from his grasp into the darkness below. Haunted by his indecision and convinced he is useless, he has resigned himself to a life among the Burrowers, an underground society built on survival, obedience, and fear of the terrifying creatures that drove them beneath the earth generations ago.
But when Terran encounters one of these creatures—the very beings his people have been taught to fear—everything he knows begins to unravel. Terran is forced to question the stories that shaped his entire existence.
With the help of his work crew, Terran must choose between the safety of the world he knows and the truth that could destroy it. To save a misunderstood creature from imprisonment and extermination, he must confront generations of fear, challenge the society that raised him, and risk becoming just like his mother: another victim of the very people who claim to protect them.
In a world where fear is law, Terran must discover that the most dangerous monsters may not be the ones lurking above, but the ones humanity creates.
