About Ayurveda 101
Ayurveda which translates to “the science of life”, is the sister science of yoga and is one of the world’s oldest healing traditions. It originated in India over 5,000 years ago and is still being used today. Ayurveda places great importance on maintaining good health and preventing disease through the practice of balancing our constitutions/doshas.
Please join us for a two hour workshop “Ayurveda 101- Understanding our Doshas”. Our primary focus will be understanding the five elements in Ayurveda (earth, water, fire, air and ether) and how these elements result in the three doshas of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These energy principals govern our personal behavior and tendencies and can get out of balance. Ayurveda practices can help us find ways to balance these elements within ourselves to promote better health (mental and physical) and prevent disease.
In this workshop we will examine what these doshas types are, and what our own personal dosha types can tell us about ourselves. We will spend our time together with a guided meditation focusing on the five elements, dosha quizzes to determine our personal dosha types, a discussion about each dosha, and an energy balancing gentle yoga practice.
