Ayom, winners of the Songlines Best Group and Best Album awards and the German Critics Award for Best World Music Album, have released the new single "Samba Para o Vazio" from the upcoming Deluxe edition of Sa.Li.Va.
The band will kick off a residency in Tokyo on February 23rd, with a series of concerts over the coming months.
The first evening will feature a packed program, with Ayom joined by special guests Bruno Pernadas and DJ Guerrilha, plus more to be announced.
We are very happy and eager to start this residency in Lisbon because it will give us the opportunity to present our work beyond the concerts we are used to offering our audiences.
We will take advantage of this beautiful space, Tokyo, to invite interdisciplinary artists who inspire us, explore various themes and genres, always in different formats but with a common denominator: celebration through music and dance.
Lisbon is the city where we want to start this experiment because, as well as being the place where part of the band lives, it is the city that inspires us most musically. It serves as a crossroads for musical cultures such as Brazil, Angola and Cape Verde, among many others.
Throughout our career, we've had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the greatest representatives of these cultures, such as Paulo Flores and Armando Tito, and we can't wait to share with you the upcoming collaborations we have planned for these residencies.
These projects renew our desire to broaden our musical horizons by mixing genres and collaborating with artists based in Portugal.
Lisbon audiences have supported us since our first concerts and this motivates us to grow together and create unforgettable nights that feed our passion for creating and exploring.
