Student presentation: Simulations of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM)

Info: Kathryn Craig is a fourth year BSc Chemical Engineering Co-op student at the University of Alberta. She joined the CCWJ Additive Manufacturing team focusing on simulation work in Simufact. Her research is focused on modeling the thermal characteristics of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing processes. In addition to her academic endeavors, Kathryn enjoys ballroom dancing, reading and climbing and is a part of the CCWJ social media team.

Student Presentation : High-Frequency Electric Resistance Welding (HF-ERW)
Host: Daniele Calista
Info: Daniele Calista is a PhD Candidate at the CCWJ and past President of the University of Alberta CWBA/AWS Student Chapter. His thesis involves understanding the fundamentals behind the high-frequency electric resistance welding (HF-ERW) of tubular products, including line pipe, casings, and conduit. Through examining how welding parameters influence defect development, Daniele aims to improve the integrity and performance of HF-ERW products. His research supports the application of tubular products in demanding conditions, particularly for renewable energy initiatives like hydrogen transport and CO₂ sequestration. Beyond academia, Daniele’s hobbies include 3D modelling and printing, and playing and officiating ice hockey, ball hockey, and volleyball. He is also interested in IMSA LMP racecars and racecar engineering
