the full spectrum of beautiful and brilliant colour like a kingfisher in sunlight as if they are on fire
From the masterwork of Percy Grainger to the contemporary minimalism of Jennifer Jolley, this concert is a collection of works that span our genre, reflecting on nature and our connections.
A dune aurora is a new type of aurora which appears as stripes across the sky, and the music engulfs in the listener in colour and texture.
Adam Gorb depicts the majesty of Pike's Peak standing magnificantly prominent and yet accessible over Colorado's eastern plains
Lincolnshire Posy is a fragrant and diverse floral gift from Percy Grainger, who you can still visit in West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide.
It is not about flowers, although it is rich with colour and interest, but as an authentic collection of english folk tunes that has become one of the most iconic works for the symphonic wind ensemble worldwide.
Finishing with the title work, John Mackey's Kingfishers catch fire depicts the kingfisher slowly emerging from its nest in the early morning stillness, just after a heavy rain storm, and then energises, imagining the bird flying out into the sunlight.
