AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring - Jan 2025

AWHONN’s Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Course is a class for the learner who has previously completed entry-level/basic fetal monitoring education. It is designed for perinatal clinicians who use fetal heart monitoring in the intrapartum setting.

Course Description

This is an 8-hour in-person class, following an online preparation component, designed to relate physiology to essential fetal heart rate monitoring theory and skills in intrapartum clinical practice. It uses a nursing model to integrate assessment tools of instrumentation, decision making and communication skills.

This class is for the learner who has previously completed entry-level/basic fetal monitoring education. It is designed for perinatal clinicians who use fetal heart monitoring in the intrapartum setting.

Instructor Cost: $225 (General Admission)

Student materials (workbook) fees are separate from the course instructor fee.

Learning objectives:

1. Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring using NICHD terminology within a safety culture framework of interdisciplinary teamwork
2. Describe clinical interventions and related maternal-fetal physiology to optimize fetal oxygenation
3. Demonstrate collaborative communication in the perinatal setting
4. Demonstrate common perinatal procedures related to fetal monitoring

CNE/CME available: 11.25 contact hours

Format: HYBIRD. Four (4) hours of online prework, followed by eight (8) hours of in-person, instructor-led class.

CLASS PREPARATION:

In order to be admitted to the in-person class, participants are required to complete ~4 hours of online prework 48 hours prior to the in-person portion of the instructor-led course or (JANUARY 10 AT 11:59PM EASTERN TIME).
