REDUCTION is the joint creative project led by local brothers Michael (sax) and Tom Avgenicos (trumpet), both leading forces on the Australian jazz scene. Their project showcases their lifelong musical dialogue amongst a love of modern jazz, improvised music and electronic sound scapes. Together, they have forged a unique creative voice, leading them to perform with the likes of Barney McAll, Mike Nock and Hamed Sadeghi. As individuals, they have received numerous awards and accolades including ARIA-nominations, the Freedman Fellowship and finalists of the National Jazz Awards.
They will be joined by Wilbur Whitta (piano/synths) and Tim Geldens (drums) and will perform new material as well as repertoire from their debut album Treading Water, reworked specifically for The Underground.
