About this Event

DRAGONAUTS CREW 333 and SEA SCOUT SHIP PHOENIX DRAGON 333 invites all Youth at least 7th Grade or 13 years old FOR ONE or TWO OR ALL of the following:

(1) Learn more about the BSA Venturing Program.

(2) Complete Requirements for the American Heritage Merit Badge.

(3) Visit a military base and discover career opportunities.

(4) Complete Requirements for the Citizenship In The Nation Merit Badge.

(5) Learn more about the BSA Sea Scouts Program.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON MARCH 23:

The visit includes a short presentation, a tour of the Base Facility, a tour of the cutters, the small boat station dock, and the Port Security Unit (PSU 311).

PREREQUISITES - MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE MARCH 22 TO BRING TO SHARE ON MARCH 23:

REQ #1 - Read the Declaration of Independence. Rewrite the section in your own words. Be prepared to discuss on MARCH 23 why you rewrote the section in this particular way.

REQ #2 - Complete 2C and 2D by MARCH 22 and be prepared to discuss on MARCH 23 what you have discovered.

REQ # 3 -Select a topic in the national news. It can be what you watch/read for Citizenship In The Nation Req #5.

REQ #5A - Watch "CAPTAIN AMERICA - THE FIRST AVENGER" and ANY ONE of the following movies by MARCH 22. Take notes and be prepared to discuss on MARCH 23.

  • The Guardian.
  • The Finest Hours.
  • Antwone Fisher.
  • Men of Honor.
  • Saving Private Ryan.
  • Black Hawk Down.
  • Forest Gump.
  • Full Metal Jacket.

REQ #2 - List the six purposes for creating the United States Constitution set forth in the Preamble to the Constitution. Be ready to discuss on MARCH 23.

REQ #3 - List the three branches of the US Government. Be prepared to explain the function of each branch and the checks & balances on MARCH 23.

REQ #4 - Research and be prepared to discuss all of the following on MARCH 23.

  • Declaration of Independence.
  • Bill of Rights & the 14th Amendment.
  • Traditional US Motto.

REQ #5 - Watch the national evening news for ANY FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS IN A ROW -or- Read the National Newspaper for ANY FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS IN A ROW - between MARCH 10-22. Record your dates and news source - and be prepared to discuss the news on MARCH 23.

REQ #8 - List your representatives in Congress. Write a letter to your representative explaining your views on a national issue by MARCH 22 and bring a copy of your letter with any reply you may have received to discuss on MARCH 23.

1) Everyone - Youth and Adult - attending must bring their own completed copy of this Activity Waiver to check in on MARCH 23: - EXCEPT CURRENTLY REGISTERED MEMBERS OF DRAGONAUTS CREW 333 AND PHOENIX DRAGON 333.

2) EVERYONE WHO IS 18 YEARS OLD AND UP AND REGISTERED WITH A SCOUTING AMERICA UNIT must ALSO email a screenshot of their BSA Membership Card showing their BSA ID and position within their unit BY MARCH 21, 2025.

3) EVERYONE WHO IS 18 YEARS OLD AND UP must bring a Government Issued PHOTO ID to check in on MARCH 23 that matches their name on the Roster/Manifesto.

4) EVERYONE - Youth and Adult - attending must wear their UNIFORM:

(A) Scouts BSA - KHAKI Uniform.

(B) Venturers BSA - SPRUCE Uniform.

(C) Sea Scouts BSA - NAVY Uniform.

(D) Dragonauts 333 - DRAGONAUTS RED.

(E) Eagle Scouts - Eagle Scout Uniform.

(F) Non-SCOUTING Youth - Closed Toed and Closed Heeled Shoes with Long Pants and Clean Shirt.
