Autumn Term 2025 - Chinese Sword Dance Short Course

Often seen in Chinese film and theatre, Chinese Sword Dance is a core discipline in traditional Chinese classical dance training. Evolved from a military training exercise into an elaborate acrobatic dance, this fun and dramatic activity combines martial arts and fencing with dance, drama and exercise to create a unique course and interesting discovery into Chinese performing arts.

Over 10 classes, students will learn the principles of Chinese sword dance using Chinese classical dance and martial arts techniques. Classes are taught by Goldsmiths Confucius Institute teachers.

Each class is 1 hour 30 mins and covers the principals of Classical Dance and Martial Arts practice.

Sessions take place on the following dates:

Fridays - 5.30pm-7.00pm: 24th, 31st, October, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th November, 5th, 12th December 2025

Sundays - 4.30pm-6.00 pm: 26th October, 2nd November 2025
