8 Hours of hands on CE with Dr. Michael Ridlehoover
About this Event

This 8-hour lecture/hands-on, interactive presentation is designed for dental teams seeking to improve clinical surgical outcomes. In the lecture portion of the course, participants will gain an understanding of (i) the science behind the use of platelet and white blood cell concentrates (ii) basics of bone graft materials and practice management related to grafting and PRF, and (iii) the steps for obtaining whole blood and processing it to achieve Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) concentrates. In the hands-on portion of the course, participants will have the opportunity to (i) perform multiple venipunctures on fellow class participants, (ii) process whole blood to PRF, and (iii) learn to mix the proper dosage of blood concentrates with various bone grafting materials.

Dental staff can take the lead in using this technology and perform the processing steps, allowing the clinician to focus on the surgical procedure. Incorporating PRF into dental practices will improve both soft- and hard-tissue healing, resulting in more predictable outcomes and fewer postoperative complications. This applies to tooth extractions, periodontal procedures, and implant surgeries. Fewer complications translate into fewer postoperative appointments and less non-billable chair time. The technique presented is cost-effective and easy to incorporate into daily practice. Since dental team members can assume most responsibilities, they are also encouraged to attend this course.

Learning Objectives:At the conclusion of this program, Dental Team members will understand:- The evidence-based science of blood concentrates for use in implant and other surgical procedures- The appropriate use of liquid and solid blood cell concentrates to improve clinical outcomes- How PRF accelerates healing and prevent complications, including dehiscence and surgical site infections- Understand the step-by-step process for preparing platelet concentrates- Understand how to use PRF to improve the handling of bone graft materials- Understand the fundamentals of bone graft materials and the practice management principles related to grafting procedures and PRF integration- Learn an inexpensive, scientifically proven method to enhance patients’ hard- and soft-tissue healing using a simple centrifuge.- Gain extensive hands-on practice performing phlebotomy techniques.
