  • We will discuss the different warning signs and what pertains to each age.
  • We will debunk the most common myths about these conditions.
  • We will look at the different types of dysgraphia and examples of what to look for in writing samples.
  • You will discover why screening your child for these conditions is essential.
  • Everyone will walk away knowing the best interventions and accommodations so each child can thrive.
  • All attendees will receive access to Heather Steinbeck's digital Resource Guide

Dyslexia is a language processing disorder affecting one's ability to read accurately and/or quickly. When this happens, it plays a huge role in comprehension and receiving effective classroom instruction. Dyslexia causes one to have difficulty with spelling and written expression.

Irlen Syndrome, also known as Scotopic Sensitivity, is just as common as dyslexia. It also affects a large percentage of our population. Often, it can be mistaken as ADHD, dyslexia, and other issues but it can also co-exist with these too. Irlen Syndrome is a perceptual processing disorder, which causes the brain to become overstimulated from light, print, and patternss within the environment. When the brain become overstimulated several things can happen when someone is trying to read, write and pay attention. It is important that we understand the difference between these two conditions.

Guest Speaker: Heather Steinbeck, M.A.
