About this Event
About A Song of Love: An act of violence results in the pregnancy of a thirteen-year-old Sicilian girl. The village priest arranges for the baby to be adopted by a couple in a nearby town where the child, a musical prodigy, grows in an opulent, but cold environment. Not in tune with her adoptive parents, she yearns to know her biological parents, and she meets her mother whose life was shaped by hatred and anger since the day she was assulted. The father is unaware of the birth and his whereabouts are unknown. In a twist of fate, the girl discovers her father, but untold secrets and hidden truths lead to near tragedy.
About the Author:
The muse of music called to Celia Latz from an early age, but she eventually found her inspirations emerging on the typewriter, not the piano. While she couldn’t play a sonata on the piano, she could type words on the keyboard. After studying painting in Venice, Italy and a twenty-five-year career in textile painting, Celia turned to writing full time. She uses the makings of music—rhythm, timing, memory, and emotions—to compose her verse. She was compelled to write A Song of Love by her love of music, words, and truth, combined with thirty-five years of lived experience in Italy. Her other published works includes the memoir A Home Without a Roof, several short stories in So It Goes: TheJournal of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum, and the book of poetry Taking Time.
