Author Talk + Signing w/ Rose Borunda: Erendira

Join us in welcoming Rose Borunda for an author talk and signing on her debut novel, Erendira.

Erendira, brings to life a legendary princess from her tribe, the Purepecha, who fought against invading Spaniards. Lessons from her life are applied today as a modern day Erendira takes on the challenges we continue to see today.

About the author: Rose M. Borunda began her career in child assault prevention and school counseling before pursuing a doctorate at the University of San Francisco to deepen her understanding of the systemic forces that perpetuate subjugation and relational cruelty. She has since worked with Indigenous and tribal communities regionally and nationally, gaining insights into the challenges and healing processes facing youth and nations today. As a descendent of the Purépecha people, Borunda pivots from scholarly writing to bring the courage of Princess Eréndira to life, intertwining her tribal heritage with modern narratives. In her spare time, Borunda enjoys learning from nature, performing Native American flute melodies, and cherishing time with her husband, children Michael, Lilian, and Aria, and her grandson, Cyrus. She resides in the Sierra Miwok lands, embracing the rich history and beauty of the region.
