Join us on Thursday, October 17 at 7pm as we welcome Alejandra Oliva to discuss her book Rivermouth: A Chronicle of Language, Faith and Migration! Alejandra will be joined in conversation with Antonio Diaz Oliva. Discussion will be followed by a book signing and meet-and-greet; books will be available for purchase onsite!
Alejandra Oliva is an essayist, embroiderer and translator. Her writing has been included in Best American Travel Writing 2020, nominated for a Pushcart prize, and was honored with an Aspen Summer Words Emerging Writers Fellowship. Her book, Rivermouth: A Chronicle of Language, Faith and Migration, was published by Astra House, and received a Whiting Nonfiction Grant. She was the Yale Whitney Humanities Center Franke Visiting Fellow in Spring 2022.
Antonio Diaz Oliva (ADO) has published five books in Spanish, including the novel "Campus" (Chatos Inhumanos, NYC), a tragicomic satire of the power dynamics among Latin American academics at U.S. universities. He received the Roberto Bolaño Young Writers Award and the National Book Award for Best Story Collection in Chile. His short story "Rabbits" was recently inculuded in "Through the Night Like a Snake," an anthology of Latin American horror stories. He currently works as an editor at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art.
