Join Cupid's Bookshop & Thrillerdelphia for an exciting author evening with Clay McLeod Chapman in conversation discussing the release of Devil Inside. Clay will be in conversation with M.L. Rio for an engaging discussion about his work, followed by an audience Q+A and book signing.

Tickets: $30 per person — includes event entry, one drink ticket, and one paperback copy of Devil Inside

This event is 18+; no one under the age of 18 will be permitted into the event.

Alcohol is available for purchase for those aged 21+. Light refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.

EVENT DETAILS

• 6:15 PM: Doors Open – Settle in, take some time to shop, pick up your copy of Devil Inside, and browse our collection of books by Clay McLeod Chapman
• 6:45 PM: Discussion Begins – In Conversation with Clay McLeod + TBD Author
• 7:15 PM: Q&A Session – Your chance to ask the authors anything!
• 7:30 PM: Signing line – Meet the authors, get your books signed, and snap a photo. Signings will be spaced out by groups on a first-come, first-serve basis. Everyone will get a chance to meet Clay, but we recommend arriving early if you'd like to be in the first group.
• 8:30 PM: Event Wraps Up – Thanks for joining us!

Limited copies of Clay's backlist titles will be available for purchase at the event. If you would like to guarantee any back titles, add-ons are available on the ticket page to purchase additional titles. An admission ticket is required in addition to a purchase of any add-ons.

Clay will be signing a maximum of three books from home, but only the Devil Inside will be personalized. This is subject to change at any time at the author's discretion.

Tickets are limited, so grab yours soon! If the event sells out, you can join the Eventbrite waitlist by selecting “Join Waitlist”. If any spots open up, we will release tickets in the order of our waitlist. You will have 24 hours to claim your ticket.

Check-in will take place at Love City Brewing. The event space is located on the second floor, and there is no elevator to access.

Free and paid street and lot parking options are available throughout Manayunk.

BOOK PICKUP POLICY

If you can no longer make it to the event, please contact us ahead of time, and we can get your book personalized for you. In the event that you can no longer attend, and do not contact us, books will be signed but not personalized.

If you can no longer attend the event, books will be held for up to 30 days after the event date. We will email you after the event with pickup or shipment details. If we have not heard from you within 30 days, we may donate or return to inventory.

ABOUT THE CONVERSATION PARTNER:

M. L. Rio has been an actor, a bookseller, an academic, and a music writer. She holds an MA in Shakespeare studies and a PhD in English literature. She is the author of the internationally bestselling novel If We Were Villains and the USA Today bestselling novella Graveyard Shift. Her latest novel, Hot Wax, was published by Simon & Schuster in September 2025.

M. L. Rio holds an MA in Shakespeare studies from King’s College London and Shakespeare’s Globe, and a PhD in English literature from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research explores representations of madness and mood disorder on the early modern stage. She never stays in one place for long, but keeps her books, records, and four-legged sidekick in south Philadelphia.
